The Gap credit card is a unique card that makes it possible for you to access huge rewards whenever you make purchases. This is how the system works: for every $1 you spend in a Gap store (and pay for using the Gap credit card), you earn 5 points. You earn a similar number of points for every $1 spent in any of the Gap family brands — including Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta, as well as the respective online stores. These points are meant to be redeemed later, and for every 500 points, you get a reward worth $5.
The Gap Credit Card and the Gap Visa Credit Card
There are actually two versions of the Gap credit card.
Firstly, there is the one that is simply Gap branded, and which can only be used to make purchases in the Gap family of stores. The Gap family of stores includes Gap outlets, Old Navy Outlets, Banana Republic Outlets and Athleta outlets – as well as the respective online stores.
Then (secondly) there is a version of the Gap credit card that is Visa branded. This is referred to as the Gap Visa card. With this particular version of the Gap credit card, you can shop anywhere in the world where Visa cards are accepted: that is, anywhere you see the Visa sign. With the Gap Visa card, you earn 5 points whenever you pay for stuff using it at Gap stores. Further, with the Gap Visa Credit card, you earn (a similar) 5 points whenever you pay for stuff using it at Gap Family stores, including Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta, as well as the respective online stores. And further still, with the Gap Visa credit card, you get to earn 1 point whenever you use it pay for stuff in all other places where Visa-branded cards are accepted (outside the Gap family of brands). Within the Gap family of brands, you earn 5 points for every $1 spent. Outside the Gap family of brands, you earn 1 point for every $1 spent.
